Must haves…

I popped into our local Aldi and Tim decided to come in with me. Anyone who knows Tim will know that he doesn’t usually ‘do’ shopping. As soon as we entered he made a bee line for the centre aisles, and kept coming back to the trolley with items we were in dire need of…

No need for food then!

He bought this, even though we don’t own a dog!

Luckily, we know someone who does…

Weather update: I can’t be sure, but I think the sun is about to appear from behind the clouds.

The angry and sorrowful voice...

...of common sense.

My heart goes out to the grieving families and friends of the Santa Barbara students murdered by a fellow student.

Mr Richard Martinez bravely faced the cameras and made a distraught plea about the availability of guns, following the death of his son, Chris, and other innocent students. His might not be an opinion you agree with, but I was disgusted by some of the comments made in response to the video of his speech on YouTube.

Needless destruction. Lives forever changed.

There's rosemary, that's for remembrance...

May Day in Le Touquet…

Recently I spent a week in Normandy, in the company of 56 Y8 pupils. Although the weather wasn’t particularly good we had a wonderful time.

IMG_8923 Lily of the valley was on sale everywhere.

It was a pity that May Day was wet,  as we were to spend the morning at the market in Le Touquet. I spent most of my time in the cloisters, fascinated by the produce on offer, but also amazed by the Le Touquet prices.

All of the above produce is rather predictable for an up-market, market.

What surprised me was the stall selling Welsh cheeses and preserves.

What amazed me was what I am sure was a British-run stall selling cakes. The prices were sky high and the produce not particularly appetising. The Loire Valley Clandestine Cake Club could give her a run for her money! Judge for yourself.

Would you pay 12 Euros for that carrot cake, or 2,80 Euros for an untidy cupcake?
