Withdrawal symptoms ...

We are experiencing withdrawal symptoms. No, we haven’t given up chocolate and sparkles – or in Tim’s case beer - for Lent, but we haven’t visited Le Pre Vert since October!

These photographs were taken when we visited in February 2011. I believe that had we visited this year we would have been in the midst of the 'big freeze'!

A walk around Le Petit-Pressigny.

The Chateau at Bordes.

Near Champagne in the Creuse.
The day was too grey to see the wind turbines.

  1. I can understand why you are suffering from withdrawal symptoms. It looks so beautiful in your photos. Not long to Easter. :)

  2. I love the chateau at les Bordes - one of the few chateaux I'd like to own. Did you get that picture from the road?

    1. Hi Susan,

I think we must have taken the pic from the road that runs to the chateau from the Charnizay road (D104?)

      Have you ever been inside?

  3. So are we !! By the time we visit at Easter it will have been a 13-week gap since Christmas, which seems endless. Your gap since October must seem like eternity.
Do you ever wonder if it's not real, that it must all be a dream? I do. But keeping up with our blog friends helps, except it possibly increases the sense of yearning !!

    1. It will have been about 20 weeks! Sometimes I think about all the tax we pay without being unable to take advantage of the services. the thought is usually fleeting though ...

I sometimes read something and feel envious that I am unable to experience it!

  4. I understand this one. It doesn't look like this year I'll be going to Philadelphia, which will be the first time for 16 years I won't have made it... hey ho

The new word ver thing is just horrible!

    1. Sorry you aren't able to make your visit to Philly (one l or two?). Is it a work thing?

I've followed Diane and taken off the WV but enabled comment moderation. We'll see how that goes.

  5. It's not long now :-) BTW It was actually lovely outside during the big freeze. Now it's back to murky/misty and gloopy underfoot.

Lovely photo of Bordes--such a nicely sized 'pile'. One you could actually imagine living in without an intercom system to communicate ;-)

    1. I'd love to see inside Bordes but we haven't been closer than the gate or road. You can get a bit closer to the back but there isn't really anything to see as trees obscure the view.

I'm delighted to say that the weather in sunny Staffordshire is just that... sunny!

  6. I know exactly how you feel. I hated it when I used to return the UK in October, only to be back in France at the beginning of April. Lucky me those days are now over :) Diane

  7. Apologies for increasing yearnings... but as Niall & Antoinette say... it is currently a lot 'YUCK' outside at the present!
Still, the cranes have come and the moorhens are getting frisky.... Spring is on its way!

    1. It might be one of the few times that the weather is better here in sunny Staffordshire. Spring seems to have sprung ... we hope!

  8. You certainly would have been in the midst of Europe's big Freeze which was not much fun! Hope you get to visit soon, Spring is not far off now.
