Door to door ...

In exactly nine hours and fifty minutes - even allowing for the time difference!

We left early at 4:20, didn’t hang around and sailed through the usual trouble spots. We even drove straight on to a shuttle.

This isn't a photograph of any of our doors but it used to be lived in by someone! This des-res is tucked away on the hill as you come into Le Petit-Pressigny.

    1. Thanks, particularly as we were moaning about our prospective journey when you called in on Saturday!

  2. Hello Gaynor:
We are so pleased to read that your travelling was safe and trouble free.

Oh dear, how we remember the slightly sinking feeling of the end of half term holidays, but we hope that the new term will be buoyed up by happy memories of your days at Le Petit Pressigny.

    Roll on the summer hols!!!

    1. Hi Jane and Lance,

Thanks! That sinking feeling is there but this half term will be so busy that it will be 'head down'.

I've already started putting things together for the return to LP-P...

  3. That is really good time, the shuttle makes all the difference. We usually use the ferry between Dover and Calais because it is so much cheaper but it certainly slows things up. Diane

    1. Diane,

We buy one of the shuttle frequent traveller packages of 10 journeys at £39 each. When we are retired and have more time we'll probably use the ferry as well.

  4. That's an excellent time! We usually reckon twelve hours door to door as long as there are no hold ups... Exhausting!

    1. Leaving at around 4:30 seems a good time as we weren't totally shattered when we got home. It does rely on an early night the previous day though!

Trouble was I was wide awake at 3.00 UK time this morning too...

  6. Good to hear that your trip was smooth and quick. We left Vouvray on Saturday at 10 a.m., had lunch in Paris with Chm at 1 a.m. and left Paris around 3 p.m. We arrived at my home near Brussels at 7 p.m. Certainly not bad considering we had to brave the Paris traffic :) It was lovely meeting you at S&S. 8. I remember that timed journey from door-to-door. Under 10 hours sounds pretty good - well done!

  9. Very impressed by the 10 hour journey. What is the shuttle - is that different than the ferry? I will have to look into that.

    1. the shuttle is using Eurotunnel to take your car through the tunnel on a train. The trip takes about 35 minutes from the terminal at Folkestone to Calais.
