Puppy pics...

Let me introduce you to Maisie and Lucy.

Rhiannon and her former partner owned a couple of dogs. When they split up it was agreed that the dogs would live with Ben but Rhiannon would have them every other weekend. As she is living with us while her new house is being renovated the dogs come to us. I absolutely love having them to stay. I always said that when we retire we’d have another dog, and perhaps we will, but for now this shared custody agreement suits very well.

Maisie

The dogs are sisters from the same litter of border collie/black labrador cross, but are very different in character. Both are very affectionate and whilst Maisie is clever and quick to learn, Lucy is more scatty and definitely a slow learner. Lucy will chase anything whereas Maisie will calculate her chances of getting it before Lucy and only chases when the odds are in her favour! Maisie prefers sticks but Lucy loves the frisbee.

  1. Love the expression on Maisie's face. Sounds like a good deal: all the fun and less of the responsibility ;-)

    1. That's about right, especially not having to do the early and late evening walks the winter!

  2. Great photos and I am glad the arrangement works so well. We have had animals all our lives until we came back from S.A. We then said we would like to travel when possible so we said no animals. It was the right decision but how I do miss them. Keep warm Diane

  3. The heads are all smooth coated BC... and it looks like the non-white-tipped, thicker tails are 100% Labrador "coffee table clearers"... but is the cost of broken crockery worth the free dusting regime, I ask?
What a lovely pair of dogs... and all the better for being a pair! The hidden advantage of having two... they exercise themselves... most of the time, anyhowz!
With my BC I used a ring frisbee... he discovered quite quickly that he could catch it by diving head first through the hole and would come trotting back with it around his neck... or, occasionally, he'd manage to get one leg through as well... and that did look strange.
    Aaaah! Memories!!

    1. Thanks, Tim.

I love the way that their looks are not perfect!

We saw someone with a ring frisbee the other day and think it will be something we'll get for them. I wonder how long it will last? The Kong frisbees are virtually indestructible.

  4. Hello Gaynor:
Maisie and Lucy are simply adorable. How lovely that you get to share them in your life. They have such darling, open faces and eyes which would surely melt the hardest of hearts. Enjoy!

  5. Sounds like a perfect set up. After our dog ( Lucy ) died a couple of years ago, knowing we were going to have travelling between France and England sort of existance, we did not consider getting another dog. I still miss her, and know, that if we were in France full time....there would have to be a dog. I think I'd like to borrow one when we are out there. I'll have to chat to the neighbours...they alll seem to have at least one. Jx

    1. We feel the same about having a dog of our own. One day we probably will but only when we've both finished work and are in one place for a length of time.

  6. They look like they're having fun. We have a new puppy and she is a lot of work! But adorable and worth it.
