It's official...

My resignation has been accepted and ratified. Thoughtful letters have been exchanged, which went far beyond the simple acknowledgement, thank you and goodbye. The news is filtering out amongst my colleagues so the countdown can officially begin.

167 days, 5 hours and 29 minutes...

  1. I hope you enjoy every minute, and then have wonderful memories to look back on......from France, or wherever retirement takes you. Jx

  2. You can't beat that feeling, the first few days of freedom, when everyone else is rushing to work and you're putting the kettle on for your second cup.......!!

    1. And then you discover all those other things that need doing...
and wonder where they all came from!!

One allotment colleague openly admitted to us that the reason his allotment became so wonderful after he retired....
was that he was avoiding the huge list of "to do"s that his missus suddenly sprung on him!!

    2. My first few days of 'freedom' will actually be during the first week in September, which is when the summer holiday ends and retirement begins. A good week for a party!

    1. As I still enjoy what I do the countdown is fun rather than something I am desperate to get to zero. Actually this is only about 75 work days, and 75% of these are only half days!

  4. A door closes, another opens ... you allow another to enter the teaching arena and have the opportunity you experienced. Isn't that wonderful? Soon you will be a learner, yet possibly teach again in a different context and place. Counting does not have to be a number sentence! Soon you will be free of four educational walls! :)

  5. I'm looking forward to it! I suspect that after Easter the remaining time will fly by.

    1. Thanks, Anne.

You could be right, in part. I think we will always want a house near to where we currently live in the UK but not necessarily the family home we live in at the moment.

  7. Goodness that is a long notice but it certainly gives you time to prepare yourself, and them time to get a replacement. Sure you will be spending a lot more time in France when you are eventually retired. Good luck. Diane
