We took a long walk along what in the summer would be the road to the Col de Croix, but in winter the road is closed and it becomes a walking and ski de fond track. The walk and the views were breathtaking - in both senses of the word as it is a fairly hefty uphill from the village. At out furthest point we stopped at a mountain hut for lunch.
Anne and I, taken by a very kind Swiss gent we met along the track.
The mountain hut restaurant.
I think this mountain is called Le Meuveran.
Some of Tim's photographs from the top of the mountain to follow tomorrow...
Nothing more beautiful than snow in the sunshine....I bet that mountain hut lunch was fabulous. Jx
ReplyDeleteToday it was just a ham and cheese sandwich, but we have had some very nice traditional Swiss food. :0) x
DeleteThe hut looked popular judging only by the trampled snow!!
ReplyDeleteAnd your weather looked good...
judging this time by....
gloves off and your open neck!!
Not quite as nice here...
not bad in the sun...
but the wind is nitherin'...
keep well.
Temperature about -4 but we were in the sun and had just walked uphill for about 3km! The Swiss are adept at clearing paths through the snow.
DeleteKeep these wonderful posts and photos coming please, Gaynor. We're vicariously enjoying a holiday in the most beautiful scenery imaginable! Just stunning. XX
ReplyDeleteLots more pics, but alas no more walks in the mountains. I can recommend Switzerland for a holiday. Great contrast of lakes, mountains, pretty villages, friendly people, trains which run on time and very clean toilets. All the makings of a fantastic place to visit! Xx
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking photos and such beautiful scenery x
ReplyDeleteOh how fabulous -- best snow in years!! I'm SO not speaking to you! Having a very bad case of piste envy! ;-)
