Chinon.
Well done, Susan! Thanks to everyone who offered a suggestion
Last summer Colin and Elizabeth invited us to join them at the Marché Médiéval. Chinon is both beautiful and interesting, and the marché a great, funfilled spectacle. If you are in the area on Saturday 3rd ofAugust I can recommend a visit.

Ah Chinon, still our favourite town in France, and those blue skies.......only three more weeks to go now.......!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we will be in the area for the marché this year, but you never know, the time might come......!!
It will be well worth it. A couple of years ago we went to a medieval parade around August 20th which was also really good entertainment.
DeleteLooks a lovely spot. There is so much to visit in the Loire. Have a good week Diane
ReplyDeleteIt's worth a visit even from the Charente perhaps combined with an overnight stay around LP-P!
DeleteI used to love visiting Chinon - particularly on 14th July. I spent many holidays in the Loire Valley and loved all those castles. Chinon had a bit of everything - happy memories! Axxx
ReplyDeleteWe've never been able to be there for Bastille Day. One day ...
DeleteI had a wonderful stay in Chinon with my sister and 'beau-frere'. It was absolutely charming. Just about my favourite place in France.
ReplyDeleteYou must go again. Can it be en route for the Lot? If you choose a time when we are in France we can provide accommodation.
DeleteI have only been once....when my now 21 year old was 2.... I remember sitting eating , somewhere gorgeous, with her in her buggy, lapping up the attention of the waiter, and the 3 of us being incredibly happy. I always smile when I think of Chinon....it brings back great memories. So thanks.... Jx
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. We have to hold on to the good memories!
