He knows me so well…

The last time we travelled to France we arrived at the Shuttle Terminal at Folkestone after a horrendous journey along the M6, M1, M25 and M20. The terminal was crowded and there wasn’t a seat in sight. I was so fed up I couldn’t even be bothered to treat myself to something nice from what used to be called the ‘duty free’, which usually has the effect of brightening my mood for a few milliseconds!! I’m usually so desperate to get to France (even if it’s only as far as the Premiere Classe at Boulogne-sur-Mer) that any delay puts me under a cloud.

We are definitely going to look at our travelling times for next year, helped along by my new timetable. More about this in another post.

However, Tim came to the rescue…

Who can stay in a black mood for long when eating a ‘99’?

Never let it be said that in 34 years Tim hasn’t learned anything… ;o))

  2. What a great ice cream van.
Hope you are able to plan journey times which don't fall in peak periods. The M25 & Dartford crossing combination is enough to daunt the strongest!

    1. If we travelled less frequently we would be able to choose our travelling times or indeed change to a longer crossing.

It's not just the horrendous journey through the UK but also having to do it after a da at work. One day ...

  3. I have not had a 99 in years, love them. Those roads can be horrendous, one small accident causes complete mayhem!. Hope your next trip is better. Drive with care, Diane

    1. You're right there.

The only thing wrong was the steep price. I think we paid about £2.50 which was closer to the price in France. perhaps it was exactly the entente cordiale you suggest!!

  6. Thanks for visiting my blog - I'm paying a return visit, and have enjoyed reading your posts, especially the ones on France, but the journey does sound dreadful. Hope the traffic improves next time you go.

    1. Hi Christine,

Welcome to la petite-presse. When I'm at work posts are infrequent and about whatever I have a photograph for. In retirement I hope to spend more time in France. My husband is from Fazeley!

  8. Hi Tim,

I think the only way the van would move is to be towed or people power. I'll check but I think it is always there. Doesn't it look good.

I don't like nights which are too hot and difficult to sleep. Wouls you like me to do a rain dance for you? I thought not..... ;o)

    1. Gaynor...
if you do the rain dance there...
won't it rain on you and not us?
      Our 2CVGB magazine arrived today...
they had a group of H-Vans at Donnington on the circuit...
      at speed...
      .
      .
      .
      55mph.
      [That is the top speed...
      empty or fully loaded]

They looked good with that slight lean into the corners...
The HY is an Honourary 2CV...
      and has its own pages!

    2. Morning Tim,

You clearly underestimate the extent of my rain dance powers!! ;o)

It's a long time since I notices an HY on the road - anywhere.
