Autumn…

Long time, no see (or read). I don’t understand where the time is going, but I’m certainly not finding the extra hours in the day that retirement promised! Perhaps it’s because my day lacks the structure that it once had? One thing I know is that the unstructured fiddling on my computer and tablet has to stop! I’m going to have to set myself the kind of limits one gives to a child about playing computer games!

We are having a very nice spell of weather. Would you believe the temperature on the terrace yesterday?

The thermometer wasn’t even in direct sunlight! The sun shone all day and promises to do the same today.

Autumn pics taken near Leek, on a flying visit back to Staffordshire. Maybe there will be more about this another time…

    1. I expect you do your fair share of unstructured fiddling as well, Colin. I wish mine was as productive and creative as Elizabeth.

  4. yes... "unstructured fiddling" sums it up ! I know exactly what you mean. I think it was a year after completely retiring that I started to realise I did actually want some structure in order to help me avoid wasting whole months at a time ! I wonder how we would fiddle in such a way, without the internet.
    Fondest wishes, Jxxxx

    1. There's a lot in what you say, especially about the internet. The iPad has made it all so much more accessible.

We are shutter painting for the next few weeks so that should provide plenty of structure. Too much structure.

Safe journey back to Hebden Bridge xx

  6. Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of unstructured fiddling, but yes, it does make time pass too quickly. You'll work out your routine before long. As long as you're enjoying it all, that's all that really matters. Ax

    1. Until now I haven't really had the time to waste on too much unstructured fiddling. Probably a good thing!

I'm actually looking forward to going back to the UK before the habit gets too hard to break! Perhaps I should try tangling? ;0) x

  7. 'Unstructured Fiddling' sounds like a great name for a blog! Since retirement we never seem to have enough time! I am already yearning for the long warm days of summer...

    1. What's is it they say about not wishing your life away!

I don't mind autumn and winter, but it's the rain that gets me down.

  8. I entirely blame my iPad for my 'unstructured fiddling' time, which is sooo time consuming...but I am learning something all the time! I agree though that my time should be more disciplined and perhaps I will then achieve more, both on and off the internet!

    1. I agree, Louise. I think it is because it is so portable and relatively small that it is always there! This means I tend to pick it up and fiddle - just like now.... ;0)

  9. Hi Gaynor , I love this too!! " "Unstructured fiddling on my computer" " I do so much of it , not good, but it is mostly in the evenings, when I am on my own, when hubby is travelling. I really like the look of Tangling , it is amazing. I don't have structure now anyway , I do work , but not every day , it is if there is work , and hubby always travelling. Doubt if I ever will. :-)
