Yesterday we were ‘cooling off’ in our sitting room – following my recent moans about the weather who’da thought I’d be saying that! Tim spotted something heading towards us, although to be honest it would have been very difficult to miss!
Did it stop in time? No, but it did turn!
As we ate our supper on the terrace we noticed that everything was covered in a fine dust – even the window frames that Tim had spent the morning brushing down and vacuuming off …
Hello Gaynor:
ReplyDeleteWe should readily exchange the dust for that spectacular view from your window. Summer is most certainly with you!
We're in France, but I gather the UK is also having some much needed sun.
DeleteWe saw similar scenes on the outskirts of the village yesterday evening. There were a group of farm machines being worked together. As we drove into the village there was a tractor parked outside the chip shop! Clearly he had been sent for their supper.
ReplyDeleteThe farners seem to work very long hours at harvest time!
DeleteThe harvest is really underway - spent the morning dodging the grain trailers around La Celle Guenand and Le Petit Pressigny. Your photo of that field through your window is much better than mine.
ReplyDeleteWe noticed that our 'twin towers' were ery busy with trailers queuing up to be unloaded.
DeleteLast couple of days we can clearly hear the 'eep eep' of the warning beepers of harvesters in fields all around us - even though they're hidden by woods. The colza in the field right next to us was harvested over a week ago so we have the view of the valley back :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a view it is too!
DeleteAll weekend when we were cycling around Blois my (French) husband kept bemoaning the fact that he couldn't see any harvesters. He was rewarded on Monday when it seemed they were all out in the fields. Fortunately, we don't have any fields near us!
ReplyDeleteHi Aussie,
DeleteIt's a bit quieter here today. Storms are forecast for tomorrow so I guess the farmers needed to get the harvest in when the conditions were right.
