A few more photographs of Tsuwano now that I have access to my camera and computer.
The ryokan or traditional guest house compared to the hotel at Beppu…
Just a few of the important shrines at Tsuwano…
The Otome Toge Maria Seido Chapel and Shrine, a place where 36 catholics were martyred. This is now a place where many catholic believers visit.
The Kakuouzan Yomeji Temple and graveyard.
Taikodani Inari Shrine, built to pray for the peace and security of Tsuwano castle. Now believers visit to pray for good harvest of rice and prosperity, improvement of fortune or protection from evil.
Our servers at the ryokan…
Yes, Tim F. The fish were bony, but what flesh there was was delicious!
Our room…
All for about £120 a night including food for two people!
It's a great adventure and great photos, is that Tim showing the scale of that 'arch'. It's massive! Don't think I could take to or enjoy the food though... C
ReplyDeleteHe insisted on standing there Colin!!
DeleteI quite like European or American versions of sushi but I struggled with some of the more "out there" Japanese items while there. They almost seem to take a perverse pleasure in seeing how far you as a visitor will go in tasting different things! I never could get used to Japanese style breakfast! Having said that, the food looks wonderful in your photos. The temples are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the breakfast, Craig. Give me toast or cereal or even croissants, any day!
DeleteI just love the china!
ReplyDeleteThey must have many of each dish as every guest has the same dish in the same China. There must have been 25 people eating breakfast. I don't remember the same dishes being used at breakfast and dinner, either.
DeleteLovely and colourful, the food, the china and the surroundings.
